On Assignment in Oaxaca with AFAR Magazine

Oaxaca, Mexico, is one of my favorite places on earth. I met my wife, Selma, there while attending a photographic workshop and years later, we married at a beautiful hacienda in the countryside. For a photographer, it is a dream. The light is vibrant, intense and rich. The people are kind and open. The cuisine is some of the best around, as is the mezcal. Tara Guertin, the Director of Photography at AFAR magazine, assigned me to work on a story there recently and it was so good to be back. Below is the magazine spread of the feature written by Eric Puchner, which just arrived in the mail on this snowy morning. Get your copy now, and be sure to check out AFAR's the WAYFARER for an broader edit of my work over the years in Oaxaca and some thoughts on this special place from a recent interview.
